I recently caught on talk radio a show about Iraq and our successes there. For example, apparently we have trained over 300,000 Iraqis for security and police work in some fashion. The Iraqis truly do not want us to leave for fear the nations around them would create what could only be described as GENOCIDE. Our leaving Iraq and allowing this to happen would dishonor our Nation in such a manner that I agree when it is said it could be a 30-50 years before we are ever trusted in anything.
Iraq has issues yet to be resolved. The big one is banking. Also, their government is not set up right either.
So for their govenment, I propose that the government of Iraq be made a Republic set up exactly as our Nation was founded with our Constitution and Bill of Rights. That should be what Iraq has, word for word. But, not with all the amendments that we currently have to our Constitution except for the Bill of Rights. Iraq is a Muslim nation. What do Muslims and Christians and Jews have in common? The Ten Commandments. That is ultimately what our Nation is based on with respects to laws and justice. Our government was made secular in that it kept out radical elements driven by dogmatic religious fashions of the day. This would serve Iraq well and provide the necessary balance between the rift in Islam between Sunni and Shi'a. For it can be compared to the rift in Christianity between Catholic and Protestant, which was true in 1776. We managed to build a great Nation sea to shining sea with this split in our own Christian faith, and so can Iraq. It is not for us to be the ultimate judge on their beliefs. The law under the Ten Commandments solves that, for that is in the Koran, and is respected by Muslims. Thus they may argue out their differences in faith outside government but uphold rule of law based on the Ten Commandments. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain ... and so forth. How can Islam argue or deny that this truth is not in their faith regarding the Ten Commandments? And by doing this, this protects those in Iraq that are also Christian and Jewish, and the minority that would simply prefer to believe in God in their own private way without having the State order them to pray. By giving Iraq our Constitution and Bill of Rights, they can set up their Nation and have debate and, for their culture, be able to pass amendments in areas of the Constitution like we did as a Nation that best suits their needs. In my opinion, that would bring true peace and stability for the long term and be a great gift to that troubled area of the world. No one can stop a person bent on suicide, no matter what one tries. But as our police valiantly does in our Nation so can Iraq when it comes to catching criminals and trial and punishment, if found guilty.
When it comes to banking in Iraq, the best solution is that the government, through the Congress and the Treasury, issue currency, and that it be backed by gold and silver which their oil and other products can provide, to provide stability. Taxation should be set as a flat tax. The banks in Iraq could then be set up to handle the deposits and withdrawals of the Government, and provide a service to the people as a safe place to store their wealth and to pay their debts. Because Islam is opposed to usury, but practices this, as the Saudis prove, a compromise on interest ought to be to set credit at 6% and mortgages at 3%, and zero to those who pay their debts on time as a reward. Banking ought to be a public service of nobile service and public trust. It should be an honorable position as a public service to safeguard the wealth of a people, not a system that fleeces the people into hopeless debt.
Allowing a central bank in Iraq guarantees foreign influence other than the United States, and further guarantees strife and turmoil caused by people who do not have the best interests of the people in mind. The sins of the British ought to be recognized and not allowed to be repeated when it comes to "divide and conquer". We came into Iraq for many reasons, all of which were correct. The sins of Saddam and his sons are horrendous, and the holocaust to Kuwait and Iran should be noted as well.
Finally, because the Islamo-fascists devasted our nation September 11, in a way Germany could not do and Japan could not do, for their attack was not on our mainland, we must treat both Iraq and Afghanistan as we did Germany and Japan and expect to stay for a long, long time to come. It has proven to be a true blessing for both Japan and Germany today and I am certain both nations of peoples are grateful for our kindness and the rebuilding of what are now great and proud nations with beautiful cities and thriving economies.
The Scorpions have a song, it is called "Wind of Change", and I believe it was written as a profound thank you for our involvement in postwar Germany. Japan has given us competition making us all drive better motor vehicles. So it has been good for all of us, and the same can happen there.
That is my opinion on Iraq, and I have chosen since the invasion in 2003, of which I supported, to not say much of anything because I knew it would be tough and that we had great leadership in the military that would have a fight on their hands. That I bother to write anything now is because, if anything, a debate ought to be had, and I believe my ideas are worth consideration. Whatever happens, I've said my piece. I could be a jerk and write just leave and nuke Baghdad for the Gulf War Syndrome, but I can't because of my faith as a Christian. Iraq was the battleground of the Cold War, and in many ways Iraq was used by the former USSR. I understand this. Thank you for bothering to read my thoughts. I hope it is useful, and wish you all the best in your continued service in Iraq. I believe you've finished the job that began as Desert Storm in a manner that will bless our Nation forever.
We must complete the job and remove our presence except a skeleton force like we have done in South Korea, It is ordered we do so according to the Book of Revelation 18:4 as follows from the King James Version Bible: "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." OPEC will burn. Amen.
